You’ve come up with a great recipe for your blog or website. You’ve tested it, tasted it and tested it again. You’ve even got a killer image that you know will get a lot of Pins and Likes. Now you’re ready to post it!

Ask yourself this: Will this recipe really inspire your readers and guarantee success? In other words, if I pulled a random recipe off your website and tried to make it in my kitchen, would it turn out as lovely and delicious looking as that image on the top of your page?

If a recipe fails, whether that recipe came from a blog or a website or a cookbook, do you think twice before returning to that source? I know I do.

So when you write and publish a recipe, you need to make triply sure your readers have every bit of knowledge you had when you created the dish. You want to take out any guesswork and give them total confidence that your recipe will work the first time and every time.

Perfect Rhubarb Pie

 I love this recipe for Perfect Rhubarb Pie because it’s so simple. Added bonus: Vodka crust!

Growing up, I didn’t eat a lot of rhubarb.

Maybe there wasn’t a lot of rhubarb in West Texas as that time because fruits and vegetables didn’t fly around the world like they do today.

Perhaps Papa Daddy didn’t like rhubarb. Or it might not have been on Aba’s radar screen. Regardless, I found rhubarb late in life and I fell in love.

My favorite way to enjoy rhubarb is, like most people, in a pie. I love this recipe for Perfect Rhubarb Pie because it’s so simple. Tart, but sweet (like me!). I know the recipe looks long and involved, but that’s the fault of the delicious Vodka Crust. Use a refrigerated pie crust, if you prefer.

The Best Cutout Cookie Recipe

Mama's High Strung- Best Cutout Cooke Recipe

Halloween starts the deluge of sweet treats and eats in my home,* and I’ve finally come up with the best cutout cookie recipe ever! These are so buttery and delicious, I know this will become my go-to cookie recipe for the holidays. The secret is to use superfine sugar!

Since I was making the cookies from scratch, I turned to Wilton to help me make everything else easier.

I’ve always struggled to get the thickness of these cookies just right, so I really liked using the Rolling Pin Guide Rings. You slip the rings on  either end of the Rolling Pin and roll out the dough to a perfect ⅛-inch thickness.

I used the Royal Icing Mix to give the cookies a smooth, glossy finish. This is such an easy way to make your cookies look like they came from a fancy-do bakery! The finishing touch? The fun Candy Eyeballs and Black Icing Color I used for the mouth. I ordered these items on line, but you can also find them at Michael’s and other craft stores.
